John Lennox, ELO Oxford: God, AI, and the End of History

Dr. John C. Lennox—renowned Oxford mathematician, author, and Christian thinker—has released a bold new book: God, AI, and the End of History: Understanding the Book of Revelation in an Age of Intelligent Machines. Blending intellectual rigour with clarity, Lennox tackles one of the most urgent questions of our time: how does artificial intelligence intersect with biblical prophecy?

Lennox, a longtime instructor at the ELO Oxford Leadership Program (returning again for 2025), received the 2024 ELO Entrepreneurial Leaders Award at St. John's College, Oxford. A sought-after speaker, he has appeared at numerous ELO Forums and webinars across Canada.

As Professor Emeritus of Mathematics at the University of Oxford, Lennox has built a global reputation at the crossroads of science, philosophy, and faith. His 2023 YouTube interview "AI, Man & God" has already surpassed 1.7 million views—a testament to his ability to make complex topics both accessible and urgent.

A startling projection from the Oxford Future of Humanity Institute claims that AI may surpass humans in nearly everything within 45 years. Lennox has long explored this theme, first with 2084: Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Humanity (2020, updated 2024), and now with this more in-depth examination.

God, AI, and the End of History is a sweeping 600-page work that boldly connects artificial intelligence, the Antichrist, and the apocalyptic visions of the Book of Revelation. Few writers possess Lennox's rare blend of scientific expertise and biblical insight. He writes not as a theologian, but as a mathematician who deeply understands Scripture—and its final message.

The book draws on the insights of thinkers such as Alvin Toffler, George Orwell, Albert Einstein, Aldous Huxley, and C.S. Lewis, offering readers an informed and thought-provoking journey. Lengthy introductory chapters provide critical context, while appendices delve into key eschatological themes, including the Kingdom and the Rapture.

Lennox warns that AI's evolution could mirror prophetic warnings—where deception on a global scale becomes not just possible, but probable. Could Artificial Superintelligence become the very force Scripture anticipates in the end times?

God, AI, and the End of History is a well-researched, thought-provoking work that offers a distinctive Christian perspective on artificial intelligence, ethics, and eschatology. Lennox invites readers to wrestle with how Jesus' final message in the Book of Revelation may speak directly into our rapidly advancing technological age. As AI edges closer to capabilities once reserved for science fiction, this book challenges believers to discern the spiritual stakes behind the code—and to consider whether the future unfolding before us is the one foretold in Scripture.
