Rooted in Rigorous Research: As a Research Affiliate at the Human Flourishing Program at Harvard, Beale explores how to optimize performance, learning, and well-being. His academic journey includes roles as an Academic Visitor at St Antony’s College, University of Oxford (2021-22), Researcher in Residence at Eton College (2019-21), and Fellow in Philosophy at Harvard (2011-13). Beale earned a PhD in Philosophy in 2014 from the University of Reading, funded by the UK’s Arts & Humanities Research Council, initially focusing on the philosophy of science and Ludwig Wittgenstein before shifting to flourishing and flow. His publications include peer-reviewed articles in leading journals and media like the New York Times, and he is co-editor of four books, including The Future of Education, forthcoming from Oxford University Press.
Amplifying Flourishing: Jon co-hosts Flourish FM: A Podcast for the Good Life, sponsored by the Human Flourishing Program at Harvard and Oxford’s Department of Education. As a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, he contributes to global efforts for positive change. Based in London, Jon spends a third of the year abroad, often in New York and Boston, staying connected to his international network.
