Dr. Andy Steiger, Apologetics Canada, Announced as ELO Forum Speaker

NEWS RELEASE – MAY 30, 2023 – VANCOUVER, BC, CANADA

ELO is pleased to announce that Dr. Andy Steiger, Founder & President, Apologetics Canada, Abbotsford, BC, will be speaking at this year’s ELO Forums in Winnipeg and Toronto on the “The Hottest Issues in the Workplace: An Apologetics Approach.”

The ELO Forum Winnipeg will take place on October 25, 2023, at The Fort Garry Hotel, and the ELO Forum in Toronto will take place on November 29, 2023, at the Four Points by Sheraton Airport Hotel.

During his session, Andy will cover the “hottest issues” in the workplace that reflect discussions in the broader culture. He will talk about understanding different worldviews and how to relate the Gospel to key issues in society, which are often issues that individuals are reticent to discuss.

He will reference issues such as the plurality of religions and the differing views on sexuality and identity. He will look at cancel culture and justice, race and critical race theory (“CRT”), artificial intelligence, and much more. He will also discuss how individuals can share the Gospel through key political and economic issues. He will look at the Biblical mandate for apologetics, being prepared to give a defence of the Gospel.

When Andy and his wife, Nancy, founded Apologetics Canada in 2010, they were motivated to address the issue of young people leaving the church. Their focus has broadened, however, to the issue of how believers generally engage with competing worldviews embedded in mainstream media and culture. In the broader culture, whether at work or elsewhere, the challenge is to communicate the message of Jesus in a way that people can understand and appreciate.

Sharing the Gospel requires all Christians to understand and speak the language of culture and address the questions being asked with intellectual honesty, gentleness, and respect. When Christians engage with others in a winsome manner, lives are impacted and culture is changed.

Andy is the author of Reclaimed: How Jesus Restores Our Humanity in a Dehumanized World released in 2020, which was awarded runner-up to evangelistic resource of the year. Currently, Andy is working on a new video series, Branded: A Series on Identity, that addresses personal, communal, and spiritual identity. Preceding this, he created The Human Project video series. In 2018, The Human Project debuted at film festivals around the world and won a number of awards including Best Short Film and People's Choice. Andy speaks on Gospel questions internationally at universities, conferences, churches, prisons, and coffee shops. Between his 20 years of experience as a pastor and his completion of a PhD at the University of Aberdeen in Scotland, Andy brings both experience and research to his work.
