Roma Downey, “How & Why Bring 'The Bible' to TV?” (LIVE VIA VIDEOCAST)


People - Roma DowneyRoma Downey is a well-known actress in addition to being the co-producer of The Bible series, which aired on the History Channel in March 2013. She also played the role of Mother Mary in the series. The Bible shattered sales records in its first week of home video release, and went on to sell over 1,000,000 units to become the top-selling TV miniseries of all time.

Her most famous role, as the angel "Monica", on the CBS series Touched by an Angel, opposite Della Reese, which ran from 1994 to 2003. She earned one nomination and one win at the TV Guide Awards for favorite actress and also garnered two Emmy Award nominations and two Golden Globe nominations.

Downey is the executive producer of the animated video series, Little Angels, which was released on DVD with Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment on February 14, 2012.

The Bible series has been the number one downloaded TV show in iTunes and ranked number 2 on Amazon's best sellers in movies and TV. The Bible will have a theatrical release containing “recut scenes and extra stuff” from the record breaking television event and could be released as early as this fall. It is Downey's first collaboration with her husband, Mark Burnett, as producers.
