 Dr. Rick Goossen

Dr. Richard (Rick) J. Goossen, President & Founder, ELO Group – Rick’s focus is to provide overall leadership and direction to ELO Group, which includes three related entities. First, there is ELO Counsel, an advisory firm that focuses on transition, governance and strategy solutions for family business owners and entrepreneurs. Second, there is ELO Network whose purpose is to connect, equip and celebrate marketplace and entrepreneurial leaders. Lastly, there is the Entrepreneurial Leaders Institute, established in collaboration with Wycliffe Hall, University of Oxford, which delivers world-class leadership training. 

Rick has extensive experience working with family business owners and entrepreneurs to provide transition / succession planning, governance and advisory board leadership and strategic planning. Rick has extensive experience doing business in Asia. He previously worked in Hong Kong for five years, with the largest law firm (Johnson, Stokes & Master) and a leading merchant bank (Hambro Pacific). He co-founded a property investment firm in Hong Kong that generated up to $30 million in revenue per year. 

Rick is a professional public speaker who has had countless local and international speaking engagements in Europe, North America and Asia to leading universities, chambers of commerce, business groups and non-profit organizations. He has been MC, interviewer, keynote speaker and workshop leader. He has taught entrepreneurship, entrepreneurial finance, strategic management, business law, international business and ethics as an adjunct professor (BBA and MBA programs) and guest lecturer at universities around the world. 

Rick has edited five books and authored six books related to entrepreneurship. Two of the books he authored are available in six translations, including Entrepreneurial Leadership: Finding Your Calling, Making A Difference (IVP, 2013) and Entrepreneurial Who's Who (Career Press, 2016). He has also published over 300 articles and blog posts. 

In terms of credentials, Rick earned a Ph.D. from Middlesex University, London, UK; a Masters of Law (LL.M.) from Columbia University, New York City; a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from McGill University, Montreal; and a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) (Hons.) (First Class) from Simon Fraser University, Vancouver. With respect to professional credentials, Rick was admitted as Barrister and Solicitor of the Province of British Columbia, Canada and voluntarily withdrew his membership to focus entirely on business pursuits.


 John Lennox

John Lennox (www.johnlennox.org) is an Oxford professor and Christian apologist who has engaged around the world with the leading atheists of our day.  He has taken a stand for his faith in a very public fashion, straddling the worlds of high-level mathematics and science with that of apologetics and Christian theology.  

John is in great demand worldwide as a keynote speaker.  Some of his debates have been watched over 250,000 times on YouTube.  His experience debating with atheists in the former Iron Curtain countries (he speaks fluent Russian and German) prepared him well for dealing with the “New Atheists.”

John is experienced in working with leading business people from around the world to share his insights on how to function effectively in a secular—even highly anti-Christian—society.  One of his books is on Daniel and titled, Against the Flow.

Revd Dr. Michael Lloyd is the Principal of Wycliffe Hall and was formerly the chaplain at The Queen’s College, University of Oxford and the Director of Studies in Theology at Christ’s College, Cambridge University. Dr. Lloyd has taught theology and doctrine at the University of Oxford, Cambridge University and St Paul’s Theological Centre, London.  He has published the popular introduction Café Theology and has a particular interest in the doctrine of evil, the problem of pain - and an inexplicable love of cricket.

Michael is the author of a popular-level systematic theology, entitled Cafe Theology, and a regular contributor to a theological podcast called The GodPod. He wrote his doctoral thesis on the Problem of Evil and helped edit a book on the Problem of Evil in the light of evolutionary theory and modern genetics. He loves walking, theatre, puppetry and music – and has an inexplicable love of cricket. A friend once said of him that he has the unique ability simultaneously to raise and lower the tone of any conversation. 


  Scott B. Rae is Senior Advisor to the President, Biola University, Dean of Faculty and Professor of Christian Ethics at Talbot School of Theology, Biola University, La Mirada, CA.  He has a BS in Economics from Southern Methodist University, a Th.M. from Dallas Theological Seminary and a Ph.D. from the University of Southern California.  His primary interests are in bioethics and business ethics, dealing with the application of Christian ethics to medicine and the marketplace.  He is the author of 14 books, including Moral Choices: An Introduction to Ethics (Zondervan, 4th edition, 2009), Outside the Womb: Moral Guidance for Assisted Reproduction (Moody, 2010, with D. Joy Riley, MD), Business for the Common Good: A Christian Vision for the Marketplace, (IVP Academic, 2010, with Kenman L. Wong), Beyond Integrity: A Judeo-Christian Approach to Business Ethics (Zondervan, 3rd edition, 2012), and Doing the Right Thing (Zondervan, 2013), a companion book to the film series written and produced by the late Chuck Colson.  He has articles in various journals, including the Linacre Quarterly, National Catholic Bioethics Quarterly, Southern California Review of Law and Women’s Studies, and the Southern Baptist Journal of Theology.  He has consulted with several southern California hospitals in ethics for 15 years.  He is a fellow of the Center for Bioethics and Human Dignity and the Wilberforce Forum. 
 Dr. Bill Foo

Dr. Bill Foo has over 30 years’ experience in financial services in Asia (1983-2015). He was CEO, ANZ Singapore for 12 years, running the bank with about 2,100 staff as one of the largest banks based in Singapore.  He was Vice-Chairman ANZ South Asia for 4 years, Southeast Asia Head of Investment Banking and President of Schroders Indonesia for 7 years and was with Citibank/Citicorp (Director)  & Bank of America (AVP) for 10 years. 

Bill is currently Chairman of Tung Lok Group, with about 30 restaurants in Singapore and the region.  He is a Senior Advisor, Lazard Asia (NYSE listed Lazard Ltd) and Bank of Singapore (one of Asia’s largest private banks with over US$100 billion in assets under management).  He is a Director of Kenon Holdings (NYSE listed) with interests in power and shipping in Israel and autos in China.  He is Lead Director and Chair of Audit Committee of CDL Hospitality (c19 hotels with US$2 billion in assets) and Mewah Intl (US$ 3.0 billion Agri Turnover company).  He is Director of Tower Capital PE (where Tower owns c72% of Eu Yan Sang Chinese – one of the region's largest Chinese medical chains and 50% of PTC Logistics. 

He is Chairman of the Singapore Israel Business Circle.  In March 2015 Bill and his wife Sarah Jane were honoured to host a Friendship Dinner at their home for Israel President Reuven Rivlin together with the Israel Embassy for about 100 Friends of Israel and host about 20-30 Israeli startup companies annually in Singapore. Bill was also Co-Chair of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra visit with Zubin Mehta in 2017 and 2015. 

Bill is Director, International Institute of Strategic Studies Asia, organizer of the annual Singapore Shangrila Defence Ministers Dialogue, with attendees including US Secretary of Defence, Canadian Defence Minister et al.  He is a member of McGill University’s Asia Board and a Special Adviser to the Chancellor, James Cook University, Australia.

Bill is presently Chairman Salvation Army Singapore/South Asia (one of the largest charities in Singapore/South Asia), Chairman, Heartware Network (one of the largest youth charity organizations in Singapore), Chairman, CEO Forum Fellowship and Co-Chairman Prayer@marketplace, a prayer ministry of the National Council of Churches Singapore. 

He is a member of the Advisory Board for ELO in Singapore and he has been an instructor Entrepreneurial Leaders Institute (ELI) offered by ELO in collaboration with Wycliffe Hall, University of Oxford (www.ELOOxford.com).  

His education includes: B. Admin (Concordia University), MBA (McGill University) and an Honorary Doctor of Commerce (James Cook University).

 

Dr. Justyn Terry is the Academic Dean at Wycliffe Hall, a Permanent Private Hall of the University of Oxford.  Wycliffe is a community that is committed to the historical Christian faith, while also being a constituent part of one of the world’s leading universities. This unique combination gives Wycliffe a unique calling to be advocates of the Christian faith within contemporary University-level debates and to equip the Christian leaders of the future. 

Justyn’s most recent book is The Five Phases of Leadership:  An Overview for Christian Leaders.  He previously served as Dean/President of Trinity School for Ministry, Pittsburgh, USA, where he was also Professor of Systematic Theology. Before moving to the United States, Justyn was Curate of St John’s Hyde Park, and Vicar of St Helen’s, North Kensington, after a few years as a Physics teacher and then International Marketing Manager in the Electronics Industry. 

His academic interests are in the areas of the doctrine of atonement and of Anglican theology, especially as it applies to ministerial practice.  Justyn is married to Cathy, and they have two daughters. For relaxation, he plays jazz trumpet and trombone.

 N.T. Wright

N.T. (“Tom”) Wright is generally regarded as one of the world’s leading biblical scholars.  N.T. Wright recently joined Wycliffe Hall as a Senior Research Fellow. Rev'd Dr. Michael Lloyd, Principal of Wycliffe Hall, said: “Wycliffe aspires to be a centre for the intellectual renewal of the Church, and, through the Church, of society. I can think of no one who is better able to help us to make that aspiration a reality. Tom has reshaped the field of New Testament studies and his impact reaches far beyond the boundaries of the church by his engagement with the traditional and new forms of media.”

N.T. Wright, who prepared for ordained ministry at Wycliffe Hall, is a world authority on the apostle Paul. He is the author of over 80 academic and lay-level books such as Surprised by HopeThe Day The Revolution Began and Paul: A Biography. Wright is ordained in the Church of England.

N.T. Wright previously served as assistant professor of New Testament studies at McGill University, Montreal (1981–86) and served as Bishop of Durham between 2003 - 2010. From 2010 - 2019, N.T. Wright was Professor of New Testament and Early Christianity at the University of St Andrews.

He is much in demand as a lecturer around the world. Being both one of the world’s leading Bible scholars and a popular author, he has been featured on ABC News, Dateline, The Colbert Report, and Fresh Air.  He is the author of the bestselling “For Everyone” commentary series and the “New Testament For Everyone” Bible translation.  

In 2018, Wright delivered the prestigious Gifford Lectures, held regularly at the four ancient Scottish universities of Edinburgh, Glasgow, St. Andrews and Aberdeen. His series of talks will soon be published as History and Eschatology: Jesus and the Promise of Natural Theology.

N.T. Wright was educated at Sedbergh School, then in Yorkshire, where he specialized in Classics. From 1968 to 1971, he studied Literae Humaniores at Exeter College, Oxford, receiving his BA with First Class Honours in 1971. From 1971 to 1973, he studied for the Anglican ministry at Wycliffe Hall, Oxford, receiving his (Oxford) MA in 1975 at the end of this period.

One of his current projects is the upcoming release of The New Testament in Its World: An Introduction to the History, Literature, and Theology of the First ChristiansThis book is a highly-readable, one-volume introduction that brings together decades of ground-breaking research, writing and teaching into one volume that will open readers' eyes to the larger world of the New Testament. It presents the New Testament books as historical, literary, and social phenomena located in the world of Second Temple Judaism, amidst Greco-Roman politics and culture, and within early Christianity.  

N.T. Wright’s involvement in the Oxford Entrepreneurial Leaders Institute is reflective of the ongoing collaboration between Wycliffe Hall and ELO in the delivery of an outstanding executive education programme for a global cohort of Christian marketplace and entrepreneurial leaders.  The ELI cohort will have a unique opportunity to be part of an intimate setting and engage in dialogue and Q & A with N.T. Wright.
