ANDREW MUIRURI GUURU, SERVE TO EMPOWER AFRICA, NYANDARUA, KENYA

Andrew will discuss his role as a Christian difference-maker and leader, including various entrepreneurial ventures, with the purpose of serving his community.

BIO: Andrew Guuru is a committed leader in his community and is involved in various entrepreneurial initiatives.  He is presently working with Serve to Empower Africa, a family empowerment ministry in Kenya (www.servetoempowerafrica.org).  He has been involved in leadership training for churches, corporations and the community.  He is a certified trainer by the National Industrial Training Authority in Kenya and a trained Trainer of Trainers courtesy of United States International University, Kenya.  Andrew is involved in four businesses.  First, he founded Kinangop Book Sellers (1995), a bookshop to sell and distribute general books, schoolbooks and Christian literature and stationery.  Second, he is involved with Country Fuel Solutions (2011) which distributes cooking gas in cylinders.  He has three outlets that do this distribution to customers right to their houses using motorcycles.  Third, he recently started a hotel.  Fourth, he is a shareholder in Kinangop Dairy Ltd., a company that buys milk from farmers in his village and processes the milk before taking it to the market.  Andrew’s family is directly involved in the above first three businesses and indirectly involved in the dairy business. With respect to education, Andrew has a Diploma in HIV/AIDS, Amani Counselling and Training Centre, Nairobi; an Advanced Diploma in Counseling Psychology, Institute of Health care administration, Chennai, India; Degree in BA sociology, Kenyatta University- Nairobi Kenya; and an MA, St Paul's University, Limuru, Kenya.
